Madhesh govt to provide Rs 21,000 in monthly allowance to families of martyrs

JANAKPUR, June 30- The Madhesh Province government has decided to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 21,000 each to the families of martyrs, who died during the Madheshi struggles spearheaded by the Madhes-based parties and the decade-old Maoist insurgency.

Madhesh Province’s Home and Communications Minister Bharat Shah, who also serves the Madhesi Martyrs Academy, stated that the goal is to begin distributing the allowance from this month. According to him, procedures for the martyr's families' upkeep and scholarships for their children have been taken forward.

The government is going to provide scholarships to the children of the martyrs along with monthly financial assistance through the Madhesi Shaheed Foundation. According to Article 960 of the Rules of Procedure 2079 on Maintenance and Scholarship, the provincial government has decided to provide Rs 21000 each to the families of the martyrs through the Madheshi Shaheed Foundation.

Similarly, each child of the martyrs enrolled in grades 1 to 6 will get Rs 16,000 yearly in scholarships. The scholarship amount is Rs 18,000 to those enrolled in grades 7–12, according to Minister Shah.

The ministry has called on the families of the martyrs to apply for the alimony and scholarships from May 24 to 30.
