Kin of dead migrant workers return with assurance of compensation

BHIMDATTANAGAR, Jan 10: The families of the four Nepali migrant workers who were buried alive under a mound at Himachal Pradesh of India last Wednesday returned to Nepal with assurance of compensation. 

Lokendra Bista and Dipendra Bista from Dipnagar of Jhalari Pipaladi Municipality – 11, Ajay Bahadur Bista from Sukhad of Kailali and Ram Bahadur Bam of Baitadi were buried alive while digging and paving a road at Tahashil Rampur area in Shimla district in Himachal state. 

The state government has pledged to provide IRs 390,000 per individual to the bereaved families. 

"In midst of pain we cremated the four in Haridwar and returned home," deceased Lokendra's father Mahendra Bista said. "After we complete the ritual of mourning we will return to Shimla to make effort for compensation." 

"The four were working on the road through a contractor company," Mahendra Bista said adding, "The Himachal state government has asked us to bring along relationship verification certificate, death registration certificate and seek compensation through procedural way." 

The kin of the deceased have said the contractor company has also assured of providing some relief. They returned to Nepal on Sunday and are currently in a state of mourning. RSS
