KATHMANDU, June 12: Chinkaji Maharjan, the chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) ward No. 22, has complained that he was not informed about the ‘monitoring visit’ by KMC Mayor Balendra Shah at Sundhara area on Saturday.

Speaking at today's executive meeting of KMC, Maharjan said, "Mayor Shah arrived in Sundhara yesterday. I could not answer when my friends asked where I was during his arrival. I was with the locals on Tuesday and Thursday discussing how the Sundhara area is becoming a dumping site while Dharahara has been constructed. If I were aware of the Mayor's visit, I would welcome him with flowers. There are many flower shops still selling flowers and garlands in the Sankata area.”

Stating that he was active in preventing Sundhara area from becoming a dumping site, Maharjan complained that he was not informed about the mayor's visit to the area.

Ward Chairperson Maharjan said, "It is not that you should take advice while going to Pashupatinath or Sankata. It’s just that we all should coordinate while dealing with important issues.”

In response, Mayor Shah said that he didn’t want to trouble the ward chairperson during the weekend, adding that he would inform the ward chairpersons about his visits in the future.
