KATHMANDU, May 24: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has urged Malaysia to establish an industrial village in Nepal.

The NCC representatives held a meeting with Charge d'Affaires of Malaysia to Nepal, Mohd Fadzle Abu Hassan, and urged him to take necessary initiative to establish an industrial village for the integrated investment of tourism, information technology and production.

NCC Chairperson Rajendra Malla stressed the need for a high level cooperation at government level between Nepal and Malaysia to spur investment. He further said NCC would take initiative for ensuring Malaysian investment in Nepal.

"Malaysia is also one of the best labor destinations for Nepal. In addition to labor, we request the Malaysian government to bring investment in other sectors including tourism, hydropower and information," Malla added.

In response, the Charge d'Affaires Hassan said they were not clear about the laws on guarantee of return although they were ready for the investment. "Malaysia has been expanding its investment in the IT sector in South Asian countries. But further clarity on policy regarding investment return is imperative," he stressed.
