KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM), Ekantakuna,  has changed its layout for the practical test for driving licenses.

Earlier, the examinees had to first enter the shape of number eight (8), drive through the shape of ‘U’ before ending at the T-shape parking. As per the revised layout, the trial will start from T parking while the rest is the same, Chief of DoTM Tej Narayan Yadav told Republica Online.

“DoTM took this decision in view of the excessive number of service seekers,” said Yadav. He further said that the previous layout shaped ‘8’ used to consume a lot of time. According to the new rules, only those who clear the T-shape step will be allowed to drive through the shape of 8. “Doing so will help manage the excessive pressure of the service seekers,” said Yadav.

An examinee had to wait for around 8 minutes while undergoing trial as per the previous layout, while under the new rules, the service seeker does not have to wait for more than 3 minutes.

The rules have been changed as per the direction from the DoTM.

The DoTM had to defer its trial schedule for Friday following a huge turnout of examinees for written test on Wednesday, the office said in a notice issued today.

The trial for driving license test is conducted at Baggikhana opposite of western entrance of Singha Durbar.
