There is no disagreement in the alliance over electoral tie-up: Dahal

KATHMANDU, March 17: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that even though some second tier leaders of the Nepali Congress have expressed their opposition to continuing the current ruling alliance till the upcoming elections, Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the Prime Minister, is in favor of the alliance. Dahal said that Deuba was positive about maintaining the alliance before and after the election.

Upon reaching Butwal, the capital of Lumbini Province, Dahal, targeting the NC and the party's second tier leaders, said, "Different opinions are being made public in different parties. However, there is no disagreement among the top leaders over continuing the current ruling alliance in the upcoming elections.”

Dahal said that the alliance was formed for the defense of the constitution, federal democratic republic and nationality. He said that the alliance would continue as it was needed before and after the election.

He also said that the government will hold the election on time. He said that Prime Minister Deuba, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and himself discussed the issue of election this morning.

Dahal said that the Maoist Center would go to the polls on the strength of its own agenda but would also consider forming electoral tie-ups.
