UML Chairman Oli suggests naming Province 1 as Koshi Province

JHAPA, March 5: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, has suggested naming Province 1 as Koshi Province.

Addressing the first convention of Province 1 Chapter of Press Chautari Nepal in Birtamod on Saturday, Chairman Oli said that it would be appropriate to name Province 1 as Koshi Province as the Koshi river had originated before human civilization.

"Koshi carries old civilization and tradition. Its religion, culture, civilizations and tradition are connected with Koshi. It will be appropriate to name the province from the identity of civilization rather than ethnic identity. Therefore, province 1 should be named as Koshi province without any confusion," said Oli.

On a different note, Chairman Oli mentioned that none of the parties in the ruling alliance have courage to fight with the CPN-UML in the upcoming election. He further said that it is unfortunate for the NC, which fought for democracy for a long time, to make alliance with leftists.

Earlier, Chairman Oli had garlanded the statues of five martyrs in Salbadi of Arjundhara municipality—Ramnath Dahal, Netra Ghimire, Biren Rajbanshi, Krishna Kuinkel and Narayan Shrestha.
