KATHMANDU, Feb 21: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the ruling parties of deploying their cadres on the streets and attacking police personnel.

Chairman Oli also questioned Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, asking why the police personnel were not given any orders to retaliate even after they were pelted with stones and beaten by the protestors. Speaking at a program organized at Kathmandu on Monday, Oli said that the ruling alliance has shown their ‘low standards’ by sending party members to pelt stones in the protests against the ratification of the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement.

Chairman Oli expressed agitation toward the ruling coalition, asserting that the same coalition had ordered the police not to retaliate against the protestors. He also expressed concern stating that the same protestors did not do anything when the MCC was being tabled in parliament. He claimed that the ruling coalition hatched a conspiracy to table the MCC at parliament and that its leaders were showing double standards regarding the grant agreement.

Furthermore, Oli said that those who vandalized physical infrastructures in the name of All Nepal National Independent Student’s Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R),  a student organization affiliated to the ruling CPN (Unified Socialist), should not be called revolutionaries.
