KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said that the US-funded MCC grant agreement should be passed at any cost as it is in the national interest.
Dr Mahat also said that some people were making false criticism against the MCC deal, trying to interfere in the relations with powerful and allied nations. He also clarified that passing the MCC would lead to economic growth of the nation and increase employment opportunities and development of infrastructure.
Similarly, Mahat said that the agreement was reached in accordance with the law of Nepal and the soa-called ‘agreement’ with the US military is just a hoax. He said that MCC had nothing to do with BRI and the Indo-Pacific strategy and claimed that MCC assistance was not against the interest of any country.
