JHAPA, Jan 31: A senior citizen of Mechinagar Municipality-13 died this morning after being attacked by a wild elephant. The deceased has been identified as Khamba Singh Karki, 75, of Jhapa, according to the District Police Office.
Karki was seriously injured in the attack. The incident happened when he tried to chase away the elephant who was eating rice, maize and potatoes on the veranda of his house at around 3 in the morning. Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, Basanta Pathak said that Karki succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Birta City Hospital in Birtamod.
Karki's house is near Ilam Road in Charaali Bazaar. Five days ago, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, 63, was killed by a wild elephant when he went to water his field in Damak.
