KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Various student unions have demanded the government to withdraw the price hike of petroleum products.
Seven student unions, including Nepal Student Union, ANNISU, ANNFSU, Socialist Student Union and Akhil Fifth and National Democratic Student Union issued a joint statement on Thursday demanding withdrawal of petroleum price hike.
Nepal Oil Corporation has increased the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs 3 per liter each and aviation fuel by Rs 5 per liter with effect from Thursday.
“Under the pretext of adjustment, the price of oil is hiked when it rises in the international market but is not reduced when the international market price goes down,” read the statement.
