KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the new leadership of the party will be selected by consensus at the party's 14th General Convention to the extent possible.
Prime Minister Deuba also clarified that the leadership would be selected from the election only if the efforts made for consensus do not succeed. Releasing a book titled 'Nepali Congress and Nation Building' written by the party's joint general secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat in Kathmandu on Thursday, he also urged not to show any kind of bitterness, resentment and intolerance toward the competition for leadership selection.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Deuba called upon the party leaders and cadres to join the campaign to make the Nepali Congress the largest party in the upcoming general election.
Prime Minister Deuba also claimed that the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress was important for the democratic future of Nepal. Speaking on the occasion, NC Joint General Secretary and author Mahat said that the book would be useful for those who want to know the economic policies of the Nepali Congress.
