Four Nepali nationals stranded in Makalu Base Camp due to snowfall rescued

KIMATHANKA, Oct 26: Four Nepalis have been rescued from Makalu Base Camp of Makalu Rural Municipality-2 of Sankhuwasabha in a helicopter on Monday, according to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha.  

Seven Nepalese, including three foreign tourists, had reached the Makalu base camp on October 11 to climb the world's fifth highest Makalu Mountain. Anoj Chudal of Kathmandu, Jung Kulung Rai, Deepak Kulung Rai and Dinendra Kulung Rai of Solukhumbu were rescued by helicopter and taken to Solukhumbu, according to Niraj Karki, a member of the team.

“Bishnu Kulung Rai and Tenzing Bhote of Solukhumbu are yet to be rescued,” said Karki. According to Karki, Bishnu and Tenzing are in Langmale of Makalu-2. Karki and two Danish nationals who were trapped in the snow of Makalu base camp were rescued by helicopter and taken to Kathmandu on Sunday.
