Man Kumar Rai was fatally injured in the head when attacked by Ram Kumar Rai, one of his neighbors, with a khukuri while the boy was out to fetch water.
He succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the BP Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, for treatment, Dhankuta police chief SP Surya Prasad Upadhyay said. Police arrested the attacker, who was absconding and was hiding in a jungle. A police investigation into the incident is underway.
