KATHMANDU, June 20: The 11th meeting of Nepal-China Joint Consultation Mechanism is scheduled to begin in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
A six-member Chinese delegation led by Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Kong Xuanyou has already arrived in Kathmandu from Beijing to participate in the meeting, which is also known as foreign secretary-level meeting between the two countries. Six other members including Chinese envoy to Nepal will join the delegation in Kathmandu.
Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi will lead the Nepali delegation in the meeting, with participation from officials from other ministries as well. The meeting will review the whole gamut of bilateral issues that exist between Nepal and China.
The meeting comes shortly after Nepal signed a memorandum of understanding on China's One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative. While the implementation of OBOR is one of the agendas, the meeting will dwell on host of other issues including those related to security, trade and transit, according to foreign ministry officials.
