KATHMANDU, Oct 23: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will start flights to the hill districts of the far west from Sunday. The NAC will start the flights from Sunday as per the directive  of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale.

Minister Ale has directed the NAC to operate the flights with the objective of providing easy service to the citizens as the road transport services have also been disrupted due to floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall a few days ago.

Dim Prakash Poudel, NAC’s General Manager, said that the corporation is preparing to operate regular flights from Dhangadhi in Kailali to Bajhang, Bajura and Doti districts in the far west following the directive of Minister Ale.

According to the corporation, there is a plan to operate flights to the hilly districts of the far west by maintaining concessional fares. Under the direction of Minister Ale, the national flag carrier will also operate Dhangadhi-Kathmandu flights from Sunday.

Meanwhile, Minister Ale also inspected the Geta Airport in Dhangadhi, Kailali on Friday, according to his secretariat. While inspecting the airport, Minister Ale said that the airport should be upgraded to a national level airport. Minister Ale also expressed his commitment to allocate a budget to make the airport more organized and well-equipped.
