KATHMANDU, Sept 10: The hearing on the writ petition filed at the Supreme Court against the appointment of Kulman Ghising as the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has been put off once again.
The hearing scheduled to be conducted by Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana for Friday could not take place as the petitioner’s lawyer requested to defer the hearing.
The outgoing NEA MD Hitendra Dev Shakya has demanded an interim order to overturn the decision to appoint Ghising to the top post of NEA. He had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on August 16, seeking his reinstatement to the post.
Shakya filed a writ petition seeking his reinstatement arguing that the government had removed him illegally. Former NEA Managing Director Shakya was transferred to the Water and Energy Commission by the government on August 9.
The Supreme Court had asked the government to submit the original files including the Cabinet decision regarding the appointment of Kulman Ghising as the Managing Director of NEA.
