KATHMANDU, Sept 9: A team led by Fatima Sumar, vice president of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), has arrived in Kathmandu.
Assistant Vice President Jonathan Brooks is also accompanying her on her four-day visit. They arrived in Kathmandu from Qatar on Thursday.
Sumar is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday. She has come to Nepal to understand the latest status of the project as the 500 million dollar grant project has not been approved by Nepal’s parliament yet. The MCC had replied to the Nepali government saying that the MCC is not part of a military strategy and could not be amended on Wednesday.
The MCC project, which should have been implemented in 2019, has not been able to move forward yet.
