RUKUM, Dec 24: At least 30 roadside wooden stalls known as 'Gumti' shops were evicted on Friday for encroaching upon public land property here.
The Musikot Municipality with support from the political parties descended on the Khalanga Bazaar and cleared its pavements of such makeshift shops, Municipality's Executive Officer, Chandra Kant Poudel said.
The vendors had set up the shops at Sahid Maidan, Pushpalal Chowk and Kalika temple vicinity in Khalanga Bazaar. They were evicted as their presence caused roads to shrink further resulting in traffic hassle.
Meanwhile, the vendors have slammed the municipality for stripping them off their livelihood. RSS
