13 percent of Nepal’s population fully vaccinated against COVID-19

4.8 million people received vaccines in past five weeks  

KATHMANDU, August 21: As many as 4.8 million people across the country received COVID-19 vaccines in the past five weeks. 

Earlier, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba announced to prioritize the distribution of free COVID-19 vaccines to everyone inside the country. Prior to his appointment to the post, 3.6 million people had received the vaccines. So far, 8.5 million people have been administered with COVID-19 vaccines.

Of them, 3.7 million have already received their second dose of the vaccine as well. With this, 13 percent of the population has already been administered both doses of the vaccine, while 16.8 percent have received their first dose. 

Earlier, the government had announced to vaccinate 33 percent of the population against COVID-19 by mid-September. The government has planned to administer free vaccines to all eligible citizens by February, 2022.
