KATHMANDU, August 12: Pakistan has provided medical equipment worth Rs 19 million to Nepal to help fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Charge d`Affaires of Pakistan to Nepal, Adnan Javed Khan called upon Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Roshan Pokharel, at the latter’s office on Thursday. During the meeting, the Charge d`Affaires handed over “Made in Pakistan” medical equipment consisting of 30 Ventilators and 30 CPAP Breathing Equipment worth over 19 million Nepali Rupees.

According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, the gift of medical equipment is part of Pakistan’s COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Programme pledged for SAARC member States. Earlier last month, the embassy handed over a cheque of more than Rs 43 million to Nepal as part of COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Programme.

Secretary Pokharel thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for contributing generously to the Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 in Nepal. Similarly, Charge d`Affaires Khan reiterated Pakistan’s continued commitment to help Nepal in its efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
