KATHMANDU, August 11: The government has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to receive a subsidized loan of Rs 19.58 billion to procure vaccines against COVID-19.

Madhu Kumar Marasini, secretary of the Ministry of Finance (MoF), and Arnaud Cauchois, country director of ADB, inked an agreement to this effect on Wednesday. The new financial fund is allowing Nepal to purchase 15.9 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines benefitting 6.8 million people in the country.

Marasini said the ADB-aided vaccination drive could safeguard the people’s lives along with helping in recovery of the economy affected by the pandemic.
