Nearly 3,000 int’l tourists visited Nepal in July

KATHMANDU, August 3: As many as 2,991 international tourists entered Nepal in July through the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), according to the Department of Immigration. International tourists have started to arrive in the country after the government’s decision to ease the prohibitory orders. Likewise, as many as 1,143 tourists visited Nepal during the prohibitory orders in June.

According to the department, 1,140 males, 1,050 females and one other from 99 different countries arrived in Nepal in July. During the same period, as many as 3,157 foreigners returned to their countries through the TIA. 

Most of the foreign tourists who arrived in Nepal are from India. Among the 2,991 international tourists who arrived in July, 1,105 are from India.

Likewise, the tourist count from the USA stands at 819. Similarly, the count is 185 from the UK, and 165 from Turkey in July. From other South Asian countries, four tourists arrived from Bangladesh, 14 from Bhutan, five from Pakistan and three from Sri Lanka. 

Similarly, 75 tourists from Canada, 50 from China, 45 from Belgium, 41 from France, 23 from the Netherlands and 19 from Russia arrived in Nepal during the same time period.

While many foreigners arrived in Nepal in July, as many as 25,000 Nepali citizens returned home from abroad as well. Of them, 21,509 are men, 3,693 are women and three belong to the ‘other’ category. With this, 28,196 people including Nepali and foreigners have entered Nepal in July.

Similarly, as many as 25,034 people left the country during the same month. Of them 21,877 were Nepali citizens. Furthermore, 13,256 Nepali and foreigners had left the country in June.
