BANEPA, Dec 19: Dr Bhola Thapa, registrar of Kathmandu University, has been appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University.
Prime Minister and Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal appointed Thapa as the acting VC until the VC is appointed.
Thapa assumed his post from Sunday, according to KU sources. The tenure of VC Ram Kanth Makaju expired a week ago.
The government formed a search committee headed by Education Minister Dhani Ram Paudel which also included former KU VC Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma and Daman Nath Dhungana on November 28 to select candidates for the post of VC. However, political wrangling delayed selection of the candidate.
