CHITWAN, July 1: Two persons died and three have gone missing after being swept away in monsoon flooding in Rapti and Kalika municipalities of east Chitwan on Thursday.
According to District Police Office, four persons inside two houses were washed away when a landslide occurred at Rapti Municipality-12. Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Thapa shared that a dead body was recovered some 50 meters away from the house. Identity of the deceased is not ascertained as yet. A search for the missing people is ongoing, the police added.
Likewise, 52-year-old Gyan Bahadur Chepang of Danetar in Kalika Municipality-11 died in the landslide.
Meanwhile, the Narayanghat-Muglin road section was again disrupted from 3:15 this afternoon due a landslide that occurred near Kerabari area of the section.
Earlier today, the highway was obstructed from the debris gathered from the falling landslide till 11:00 on Thursday morning.
Vehicular movement was resumed after 11:00 am after clearing the debris.
