KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The process of advancing constitution amendment bill registered at the Legislature-Parliament is taking place from its next meeting.

The decision to that end was taken following a meeting between the ruling parties and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at the Prime Minister's residence at Baluwatar on Saturday.

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha shared that the meeting decided to take ahead the parliamentary process of constitution amendment motion on December 19 if the efforts to forge consensus remained elusive till the day.

"If CPN-UML wants to challenge the constitution amendment it can put efforts to disapprove the bill through parliamentary process. But the responsible opposition should not keep the parliament and the entire country hostage to indecision by disrupting the constitution implementation process," said CPN (Maoist Center) Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal after emerging out of the meeting.

The meeting decided to hold dialogue with CPN-UML at the earliest and also discussed on holding civic polls, Bhusal informed.

"The Prime Minister has said that the constitution amendment bill would in no way be taken back and also assured the UDMF to address their demands through the motion. All members of ruling coalition have the moral responsibility to pass the amendment proposal the government has forwarded," said Chairperson of National Madhes Socialist Party, Sharat Singh Bhandari.
