The delegation comprising local level leaders of various political parties in Humla, Mugu, Bajura and Kalikot made the demand as the villages lie far from their respective district´s headquarters. Locals living in the areas are facing difficulties to avail themselves of administrative services.
Shahi said the division of the existing administrative zones made in 2018 BS was very unscientific and that it needs to be addressed in the new state structuring process.
Shahi said that the headquarters of the proposed new district should be located keeping in view its accessibility from all 30 VDCs lying on either side of Karnali River. “These VDCs share similarities in all aspects including language, custom, culture and traditions,” he added.
On the occasion, Speaker Nembang assured that he will put forward their concern to the State Restructuring Commission. He said that the Commission would address the demand as the new constitution is being drafted as per the aspiration of the people.
