Monsoon begins in Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 12: Due to the impact of low pressure wind developed in the Bay of Bengal of India, the monsoon has arrived in Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati Province from Friday.

According to meteorologist Raju Pradananga, the impact of the monsoon will be witnessed across the country in a day or two.

The monsoon is likely to be active from next week and there is a chance of heavy rains in various parts of the country, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. The Department has urged people living in river banks and other flood and landslide risk zones to stay alert in the coming days.

Usually, monsoon begins from June 13 and ends on October 2 in Nepal.

Nepal is expected to witness more than average rainfall during the monsoon this year.

There is a chance of light to heavy rainfall in various parts of Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati Province today. Kathmandu Valley is witnessing light rain fall from Friday morning.
