Oxygen plant to be set up at Hetauda Hospital

KATHMANDU, May 22: Preparations are currently underway to build an oxygen plant at Hetauda Hospital in order to ease the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the district with the help of funding from private businesses and industries. 

According to Dr Purusoth Ram Sedai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Social Development of Bagmati Province, the president of the industry association of Makwanpur, Lekhraj Pokhrel and Rajesh Prasai of Hetauda Hospital have reached an agreement to build an oxygen plant at the hospital.

According to Pokhrel, the association has allocated Rs 12.8 million from private businesses to set up an oxygen plant at the hospital. The hospital administration and the industry association will make decisions regarding the purchase of oxygen plants on May 25, he added. 

The oxygen plant is set to be installed at Hetauda hospital which will provide oxygen for the patients at the hospital, Prasai said. 

According to the Ministry of Social Development, funds have been allocated to set up oxygen plants in Sindhuli, Bhaktapur, Kavre, and Dhading, including the district hospital in Nuwakot of Bagmati Province.

The province government has been providing ventilators, ICU wards, doctors and health workers in COVIS-19 hospitals around 13 districts of the province in order to effectively treat the infected patients, spokesperson Sedai said.
