Over 43,000 vaccinated with Verocell

KATHMANDU, May 20: As many as 43,018 people inside the Kathmandu Metropolitan City have received their second dose of Verocel (Chinese vaccine) against COVID-19. The vaccination drive for the second dose of Verocel started on May 16. 

Among the vaccinated, 23,485 were identified as males while 19,533 were females. The total number of the vaccinated was counted from over 33 vaccine centers including TU Teaching Hospital. Ward no 26 vaccine center in Lainchaur saw the highest number of doses received by 2,492 people while ward no 16 vaccine center saw a total of 2,427 people who received their second dose of the vaccine and 2,385 people got vaccinated from ward no 32. 

Also, ward 11 saw less than a thousand people to receive their second dose. Ward no 19 vaccinated 197 people, ward no 20 saw 394 doses of vaccine distributed and ward no 24 vaccinated over 408 people inside Kathmandu. Similarly, Ward no 21, 28, 23, 22, 18, 8, 25, and 30, vaccinated 419, 442, 487, 525, 706, 729, 813, and 905 people respectively. The distribution of the first dose of vaccine took place from April 7 to April 28. 

At the moment, people who have received their first dose of the vaccine should visit their vaccination centers for their second dose on the scheduled dates accordingly. The vaccination centers are made available in every ward and will remain open from 10AM to 4 PM. It is also informed that the second dose can be received in any vaccine centre irrespective of the location where they received their first dose. 

There are 54,568 cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kathmandu out of which 12,041 are still active. As many as 372 have succumbed to the virus while 42,155 have recovered.
