KATHMANDU, April 21: The CPN (Maoist Center) has entrusted the party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take a decision to withdraw the party's support to the KP Oli-led government.
A Standing Committee meeting of the party held at the party’s central office in Parisdanda on Wednesday took a decision to this effect, according to the party’s Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
Talking to media persons after the Standing Committee meeting, Shrestha said that the meeting has given the authority to Chairman Dahal to take a decision to withdraw the party's support to the government as necessary. “The right to make a decision whether to withdraw the party’s support to the current Oli-led government has been given to Chairman Prachanda [Dahal],” he told media persons.
The decision of the Maoist Center comes in the wake of preparations being made by the rival parties to oust Oli from power. Maoist Chairman Dahal and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba have lately intensified negotiations to oust the current government and form a new government under NC’s leadership. They are expecting support from the UML’s rival faction in the formation of a new government.
