KATHMANDU, April 18: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has been relieved from his position as a parliamentarian upon the recommendation of the CPN (Maoist Center).
Thapa was nominated a member of the upper house by the Maoist Center representing Bagmati Province.
With this, Thapa has automatically lost his ministerial portfolio as well.
Issuing a press statement, the Parliament Secretariat said that Minister Thapa has lost his positions of a member of parliament (MP) and Minister of Home Affairs.
Earlier on April 9, the CPN-Maoist center had sent a letter to the Parliament Secretariat saying that Thapa had been expelled from the party.
