NOC hikes fuel price

KATHMANDU, April 18: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel used in domestic flights. 

According to NOC, it has increased the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Re 1 per liter as per the price received from the Indian Oil Corporation on April 16. Similarly, the price of aviation fuel for domestic flights has been increased by Rs 2 per liter. 

“If the price is not adjusted, it will incur a loss of more than Rs 810 million in 15 days,” according to a statement issued by the corporation. The corporation had earlier increased the price of petrol, kerosene and diesel by Rs 2 per liter on April 4. The price of petrol had reached Rs 120 per liter. The price of kerosene and diesel was fixed at Rs 103 per liter.

Customers within 15 kilometers of the corporation's depot in Thankot will have to pay Rs 121 for a liter of petrol as per the new price effective from Sunday. As per the new rate, the price of kerosene and diesel has been fixed at Rs 104 per liter and the price of aviation fuel used in domestic flights has been fixed at Rs 76 per liter. 

The prices of aviation fuel for aircraft used in international flights have been kept unchanged, the corporation stated in a statement.
