92-year-old citizen repairing road

SOLUKHUMBU, Dec 10: Bhim Bahadur Basnet, 92, of Chaulakharka-8, Solukhumbu has toiled for the maintenance and clean-up of five-kilometre trail road from the amount he received as social security allowance. 

Basnet got the road repair and clean-up done mobilizing local youths by arranging them the mid-day meal from Rs 12,000 he received as allowance last year. 
More than 30 youths joined their hands to make the campaign of senior citizen Basnet successful, shared Man Bahadur Basnet, a local. 

Elderly Basnet himself had initiated the road repair and clean-up work with spade. He spent the allowance received from the government for the public works after his demand for budget from village council for the cause was disapproved. 

Senior citizen Basnet said, "Now the allowance has increased two-fold from this year. I will spend the annual allowance totaling Rs 24,000 to maintain rural roads in my village". 

He expressed his belief that the making of road in village would help ease the road to heaven. RSS
