She has been demanding justice for her dead son. She also lost her husband when both of them decided to fight for justice. Gangamaya's son Krishna Prasad was shot dead at Bakulahar Chowk in Ratnanagar on June 6, 2004 on his way to his grandfather's house in Jayamangala, Chitwan.
The deceased Krishna Prasad's father Nanda Prasad and mother Gangamaya were on a hunger strike demanding action against those involved in the murder. Nanda Prasad died during his hunger strike. His funeral has not taken place yet after the family refused to take responsibility for the body until justice is served.
