Contempt of court case filed against Dahal

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: A contempt of court was filed at the Supreme Court against Pushpa Kamal Dahal, chairperson of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, on Monday.  

Advocate Samir Hayu registered the contempt of court case against Dahal, who is also a former prime minister, for giving public remarks on cases sub judice at the apex court. The writ petitioner has also accused Dahal of giving remarks targeting the justices.

Earlier, cases of contempt of court were filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former speaker of parliament, Daman Nath Dhungana, and four former chief justices Kalyan Shrestha, Sushila Karki, Anup Raj Sharma and Min Bahadur Rayamajhi.

The court has already asked the defendants to be present at the court in person with written responses.
