Two killed, 19 injured in Sarlahi bus mishap

SARLAHI, Jan 21: At least two people were killed and 19 others injured in a road mishap at Hariban of Sarlahi district along the East-West Highway. 

The Kakadbhitta-bound bus (Na 5 Kha 4488) from Dang met with the accident near the Armed Police Force police base camp in Hariban Municipality-4. One person died on the spot while another person breathed her last on the way to Birgunj Hospital for treatment, according to Chief of District Police Office Sarlahi SP Santosh Singh Rathor. 

The deceased in the accident that took place at around 4:50 this morning are Rajkumari Chaudhary, 36, of Rapti Rural Municipality-5 in Dang, and Rita Chaudhary, 23, of Dang Rapti. 

The passenger bus had fallen down 10 metres off the road after it lost control. Two out of 30 passengers in the bus lost their lives in the accident, SP Rathor informed. 

As five persons including the driver are in critical condition, they are taken to Birgunj-based Neuro Hospital for treatment. Three others are undergoing treatment at Namuna Hospital in Hariban. 

Police sources said nine other passengers with minor injuries are being treated at Swabhiman Hospital in Hariban.
