KATHMANDU, Dec 23: The total number of people dying of COVID-19 infection in Nepal has surpassed 1,800-mark on Wednesday as five more people succumbed to this viral infection that was first reported in the Chinese province of Wuhan in December last year.
Since the first death was reported on May 16, Nepal’s COVID-19 death tally has advanced to 1,803 on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). Nepal had reported 30 cases of COVID-19 related death --the highest single-day fatalities – on November 4.
Meanwhile, the MoHP confirmed 743 new cases of the disease and 952 cases of recoveries taking the total COVID-19 related cases to 255,979.
As many as 246,661 COVID-19 patients have got over the disease as of Wednesday afternoon. This accounts for 96.35 percent of the total infections.
