ITAHARI, Dec 1: The Eastern Regional Office of Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has started investigation against four factories of Biratnagar, suspecting their involvement in revenue evasion.

A team led by Tirtha Chiluwal, the director of DRI, conducted a raid on Arihanta Wire, Bishal Maida Mill and Nabin Industries on Sunday, and Quality Biscuit Industry on Monday. The team has seized documents from all the factories for further investigation.

“We have already begun detailed investigations against these four factories. There promoters should help us to complete the investigation faster,” Chiluwal told Republica.

The DRI has been taking action against industries and business firms who pay less tax, do not furnish tax details, always report loss, submit fake documents and do not issue invoice, among others.

Meanwhile, the office has sent another team to Bhadrapur of Jhapa for starting investigation there. The team was deployed following complaints of revenue evasion from Bhadrapur Customs Office and other small customs.

Jaya Bhandari, chief of the Eastern Regional Office of DRI, said that they were keeping a tab on business activities of some firms. “We are conducting internal investigation. We will raid these offices if we find their activities suspicious,” Bhandari added
