KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Youth and student wings of the CPN-UML, Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) and All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), held demonstrations in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, protesting against the constitution amendment bill on Wednesday.

Youths and students affiliated to the party demonstrated by wearing black bands, burning tyres and chanting slogans.

The protest was addressed by ANNFSU Chairperson Nabina Lama and YAN Chairperson Rajib Pahari.

They strongly protested against the constitution amendment bill. According to them, the bill was filed to address the demands of foreign powers rather than meeting the needs of the country.

Situation in the New Baneshwor area was tense after the protest. Police had cleared the road after the cadres burned tyres on the road. A meeting of the parliamentary party of CPN-UML has decided to obstruct parliament from Thursday in protest of the amendment bill registered in parliament by the government yesterday.
