RASUWA, Nov 22:  The hotels in the Langtang region, one of the favorite travel destinations in Nepal, are all set to resume their services from Sunday.

As Rasuwa district has reported a declining trend in new COVID-19 cases in recent days, the hotels, lodges, restaurants and cafes located in one of the frequently-visited trekking routes in central Nepal are reopening in a bid to expedite tourism activities.

The hotel business in the district that resumed after the country eased the four-month-long lockdown restrictions, was suspended again from November 3 as the number of COVID-19 cases kept on rising.

All the hotel related businesses in Rimchhe, River Side, Ghoda Tabela, Gumba Danda, Langtang, Mundup and Kyanjin areas will resume their services, according to Gosainkunda Rural Municipality Ward 4 Office.

“We hope to welcome a significant number of tourists as we resume our services,” said Gyalbu Lama, a hotel entrepreneur.

Ninety percent of the total tourists arriving in the district visit the Langtang region. A very few of them cross Ganjala and others make their religious trip to Gosainkunda as well.

Langtang Mountain, Old Monastery, Kyanjin Valley and Nepal's first cheese factory are some of the sites that visitors love to visit in the region which is considered the third most visited tourist destination in the country. Similarly, Yala Peak, Kyanjin Ri and Chyarkuri Peak are some favorite trekking routes in the region which hosts thousands of visitors every year.

The number of tourists visiting the region was on the rise as one can visit the region even without a guide or a porter.

The region, which did not receive any tourists for months due to COVID-19 fears, started to witness some visitors after mid-October.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Langtang region  would receive tourists from countries such as  Israel, France, Canda, Japan, Italy, the USA, Thailand, the UK, South Korea, Russia, Spain, Uruguay and Singapore.
