ACC Asia Cup Women's T20 Cricket Tournament
KATHMANDU, Nov 29: Nepal faced its third defeat in a row in the ongoing ACC Asia Cup Women's T20 Cricket Tournament after facing a huge 92-run defeat at the hands of Test-playing nation Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Nepal was bowled out for 41 runs in its chase of 134 runs target set by Bangladesh, which invited Nepal to bowl first after winning the toss.

In the match held at Asian Institute of Technology Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Thailand, Bangladesh made a solid start putting up a 71-run partnership for the first wicket.

Openers Sanjida Islam (35 runs off 40 balls) and Nigar Sultana (39 runs off 49 balls) created the base for the commanding total. Shaila Sharmin and Rumana Ahmed (not out) came up with notable contributions of 19 runs and 17 runs as Bangladesh made 133/4 at the completion of 20 overs.

Sangita Rai took two wickets for Nepal including that of opener Sanjida. Captain Rubina Chhetry and Sita Rana Magar bagged one wicket each .

In the run chase, opener Sita Rana Magar was the only batswomen for Nepal to reach double digit figures. She scored 15 runs off 20 deliveries before being caught by Janahara Alam. Indu Berma (9 runs) and Rubina (7 runs) were the second and third highest scorers for Nepal. Four Nepali batswomen were out for duck.

Player of the match Fahima Khatun sent four Nepal batswomen to the pavilion.

Nepal, which is yet to win any match, is at the bottom of the table despite setting the target of beating at least one Test-playing nation in the six-team contest.

Nepal has already faced defeats against Test-playing sides Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Nepali had gone down by nine wickets to Pakistan in its opening match while it suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka on Monday.

Five-time champion India leads the standings with six points after winning all three matches it played. Similarly, Bangladesh and Pakistan both have won two matches and have collected four points each and are in second and third positions respectively on the basis or net run rate.

Likewise, Sri Lanka is in the fourth place with two points having played just two matches while non-Test playing nation Thailand, which is yet to win any match, is one place above Nepal on the basis of run rate.

Nepal will now vie against Thailand on December 1 and face India in its last match a day later.
