100 houses flooded in Gaindakot

CHITWAN, August 2: About 100 houses in Gaindakot Municipality Wards 1, 2 and 4 located in Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapoorva) have been flooded due to continuous rain for the past few days. Shivakant Tiwari, spokesperson for the municipality said that dozens of houses in these areas have been flooded due to the lack of long-term drainage of rainwater.

Janak Secondary School and Model High School are also flooded. Tiwari said that schools, hotels, party palaces, commercial shops and houses on the East-West National Highway were flooded.

According to him, the traffic movement in the Kalikagandaki corridor is completely affected. Botetol, Kaligandaki Chowk, etc areas are more affected. Computers and documents were damaged after the ground floor of Janak Secondary School was completely flooded.

This area of ​​Gaindakot is getting flooded every year. However, Harimaya Sapkota of Gaindakot said that they are facing problems as the parties concerned do not arrange drainage. Birat Sapkota, a member of the secretariat of the mayor of Gaindakot Municipality, said that the work to divert the accumulated water toward the Jayashree River is now underway.

Similarly, some areas of Ward No. 8 of Ratnanagar Municipality of East Chitwan have been flooded. The District Police Office, Chitwan, has said that the details of the damage caused by the flood have not been received. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Information Officer Narhari Adhikari of the District Police Office, Chitwan, said that no loss of life has been reported so far.
