KATHMANDU, Feb 26: One person was killed while 11 other were injured in a road accident near Dhungeadda, Chandraagiri-15 on Sunday evening.
The accident took place when a 10-wheeler truck with registration number Na 6 Kha 2871 crushed a scooter (Ba 84 Pa 1810) and rammed into 10 other vehicles. The truck was heading toward Kalanki when it collided head on with the scooter travelling in the opposite direction. It lost control and damaged other 10 vehicles as well.
The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Sumsher Gurung from Taandi, Chitwan who was living in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

Gurung was riding the scooter that met with the fatal accident. Critically injured Gurung was rushed to the National Trauma Center where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
It has been learnt that the accident took place due to mechanical malfunction of the truck. As explained by the driver, who is currently under police custody, the truck suffered a brake failure leading to the accident.
The driver has admitted that the vehicle lost control in the inclined road and rammed other vehicles. The 27-year-old truck driver Birendra Kumar Shah from Bara is currently being interrogated by the police.
“We have taken the driver under custody and further investigations are underway,” said DSP Ghanashyam Shrestha at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot. “The driver was not drunk and we have recorded his statement that the truck suffered malfunction,” he said.
Five of the nine people injured in the accident have been receiving treatment at Sahid Memorial Hospital, Kalanki. Two others have been admitted to Nepal National Hospital and National Trauma Center.
“Two people have already been discharged after treatment.
The others are still receiving treatment but are out of danger,” DSP Shrestha said.
