TAPLEJUNG, Aug 12: Police have arrested a man on the charge of raping a teenage girl in the district on Wednesday.

The arrested is 23-year-old Kamal Thopra of Maiyakhola-5. The other involved in the case is still at large, said DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet, chief of District Police Office, Taplejung.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police squad deployed from Police Post, Sanghu, arrested Thopra, one of the rapists involved in the rape case.

“Two men lured the girl into an unattended house belonging to Kul Bhadur Limbu, a local, and raped her in turns on Tuesday morning," police quoted the victim’s father as saying.

DSP Basnet said they have launched a manhunt to nab the other culprit who has been absconding since the incident.
