A veteran progressive writer Anand Dev Bhatt died at the age of 86. He was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Bhatta, who was taking rest at his residence in Kalikasthan after treatment last month, breathed his last on Monday.
He had been active in Nepali literature. He was also involved in teaching and promoting progressive thought for a long time. Over two dozen of his works are published and 'Sainlimaiya', 'Ama Bolachin' and '97 Sal' are regarded as his popular works.
Born in Jumla in 1993 BS, he was also the former president of the Progressive Writers' Association and the Progressive Professors' Association. His last rites will be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat, according to Prof Dr Jiveendra Dev Giri, President of the Progressive Writers' Association.
Late Bhatta is survived by his wife and two sons.
