“Typography 2020”, an exhibition by the students studying in BFA  second year in Sirjana College of Fine Arts with Graphic Communications as their major, kicked off on Saturday at Nepal Art Council.

The gallery features the work of 13 students—Anisha Bhandari, Bibek Bajracharya, Kritika Shrestha, Mikesh Nakarmi, Prashant Pant, Ruben Budha Magar, Sabin Sainju, Sabin Shrestha, Sangita Shree Lama, Sanjeev Shrestha, Shishir Dhakal, Sona Nepali and Sushreena Shakya.

This is the second edition where the college has organized the exhibition to showcase ‘Typography’ as an important subject along with firsthand experience for the students and a special public exposure to them.

Similar to the first edition, this exhibition too focuses on works compiled over an academic year showing the result of the students work made over a year. Giving information on the exhibition, Madan Chitrakar, Principal of Sirjana College of Fine Arts shared, “The exhibition has twin objectives. In one category, a keen viewer would note is a panorama of innovated type fonts – rooted on the earlier basic forms—but attuned and stylized to individual taste and desire of the students. Then, the second interesting feature, the exhibits would reveal many new designs for prints-created exclusively based on the type-fonts, that is, with the minimum use of other visual elements.”

According to him the practice is made so that newer fonts or types are explored or innovated and the students would be able to compete in global market.

The exhibition continues till Wednesday.
