TRISHULI (Nuwakot), April 6: Movement of people and vehicles has been completely stopped on the bridge over the Trishuli River at Bidur Municipality-6 in Nuwakot district.
The bridge has been closed after one of the four cables of the bridge snapped, said Rajan Shrestha, the Mayor of Bidur Municipality. The bridge was constructed nearly 40 years ago during the construction of the Devighat Hydropower Centre.
According to him, only two-wheel vehicles were allowed through the bridge since the third week of December last year after the problem was detected with the cable. Mayor Shrestha expressed the commitment to reopen the bridge after repairing it at the earliest possible opportunity.
The Municipality has urged drivers and people to use the bridge at Dhunibesi of Simchaur and Devighat following the closure of the bridge located at Bidur Municipality-6, which connected Bidur Municipality-4 with Mandredhunga of Bidur-6. It is the bridge that shortened the way leading to Tarakeshwar Rural Municipality and Dhadingbesi.
