KATHMANDU, Oct 19: The Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), one of the major partners of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), has asked for the formal views from the government on constitution amendment. 

Stating that its attention was drawn towards the indifference of the government towards constitution amendment, which was one of the major points of the three-point agreement, the TMDP said not coming any official decision from the parties in the government has cast doubt on the government's performance. 

A joint meeting of central office-bearers, central committee members, lawmakers and district chairmen of the TMDP strongly demanded the government to initiate constitution amendment process by putting forth its view before the UDMF. 

Making public the decisions of the meeting on Wednesday, the TMDP said the proposed local bodies in the proposed federal province would not be acceptable to it at any cost. 

The party also decided to launch public awareness programs to inform about the current situation of the party and to distribute party membership in the villages. 

On the occasion, Chairman Mahantha Thakur said they would continue their protest program until the constitution amendment. 

On a different note, he said that although discussion was underway for unity with Sadbhawana party, no decision has been taken to this. RSS
