Sanju Moktan, winner of ‘Enchanteur Miss Teen Nepal 2017’

KATHMANDU,Sept 23: Sanju Moktan was announced the winner of ‘Enchanteur Miss Teen Nepal 2017’, organized by Kathmandu Jaycees at the Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi on Friday. 

Similarly, Mary Limbu was announced the first runner-up and Diya Mandal Sijapati the second runner-up. Upon winning the title, Sanju said, “I am ecstatic to have won the title of Miss Teen Nepal 2017. I have never been this happy. All my hard work has paid off and I would like to thank the sponsors and organizers for the opportunity. I would also like to express gratitude to my mom, who has been my idol, for supporting me throughout the pageant journey.”

Meanwhile, Miss Teen 2017 first runner-up Mary shared that winning the title made her feel more responsible toward the society. Similarly, second runner-up Diya said, “I am elated to have been selected the second runner-up. I feel my hard work has paid off. I also got the opportunity to learn numerous things throughout the pageant.”

The event began with a welcome remark followed by an opening dance before the Introduction Round began. All the contestants donned in pink dresses introduced themselves among the judges as well as the audience with confidence and fluency. 

For the finale, a panel of judges comprising Chief Judge JCI Sen Pradip Man Vaidhya, psychologist Dr Ganga Pathak, Miss Nepal 2003 Priti Sitoula, lyricist/story writer Dr Raju Babu Shrestha, singer Nirnaya Shrestha and Creative Head at Reliance Paint Industries Priti Bahety, evaluated the contestants on the basis of their personality and skills. 

For the Best Dress Round, as many as 27 contestants wore elegant designs that incorporated beauty as well as the theme of being oneself, need to save nature and patriotism among others. All the contestants walked with poise and evident confidence.

Miss Nepal 2005 Sugarika KC had choreographed the show. The way the contestants shook their hips while waiting for their turn to showcase their dress, made the choreography interesting.

Moreover, dance choreographer Swojan Raghubanshi showcased an energetic cultural dance performance, leaving the audience spellbound. He had presented a solo performance reflecting the cultural dances of Nepalis living in the Himalayan, Hilly and Tarai regions. 

The Top Ten contestants were selected for a Q&A round by the panel of judges. Among them, Sanju, Puja Puri, Mary, Diya and Nista Sigdel were chosen the Top Five for their smart answers to the question ‘What is the beauty of being a daughter?’ asked by Pradip. 

Talking about the contestants, Pradip said, “The event went well beyond my expectation. This year’s contestants were confident and talented. Every year, we’ve been mentoring talented and quality contestants.” 

Republica My City was the official media partner of the event. Girls between the ages of 16 to 19 are eligible to participate in the annual cultural talent show that helps in empowering women.
